Icelandic Sheep
Icelandic Sheep - Icelandic's are short tailed purebred sheep that were imported to Iceland by the Norsemen. Due to the isolated nature of the island and later efforts to preserve purity, these sheep are arguably the closest to the native breeds that the Vikings used. They are a dual coated breed having both an inner coat of short soft wool, thel, and long coarse outcoat wool, tog. When the two kinds of wool are mixed together it is called Lopi.
